Welcome everyone to the 244th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the custom Springfield 1911 was nothing but fudd crap.

At this time the original auction remains up on GunBroker with no bids. We can only hope this raced-out boomer classic will find its way to a new home shortly.

Let’s get one thing straight, I love a good 10/22. It’s a staple of a proper firearms collection. There are a few things you can do to a 10/22 that make it awful. One is to modify it heavily, and use aftermarket magazines. There I said it. Those little 10-round magazines from the factory are glorious, and I still have PTSD from using a singular Hot Lips 25-round magazine during my childhood (During the 1994-2004 assault weapons ban) that jammed more rounds than it fired.

I’ve been out of the 10/22 game for some time now, but I’m sure there are some good aftermarket magazines out there. I, on the other hand, seriously doubt the drum mags pictured are part of that group. Do I still think this would be a blast to shoot? Absolutely. Would I buy one? Probably not. However, it looks like someone is going to based on the early bid.

Is this double barrel 10/22 worth jumping into the bidding pool at a shade under $2.5k or are you mini-air defense solutions better found in a shotgun? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
